"Carving YOUR niche!"
Hand Carved Graphic Design
The Planet Pledge, a brochure for an ecology based poem printed on merchandise for sale to raise money for ecological causes.
Mason Shoes, a direct mail brochure to solicit new sales representatives for mail order shoe company. Again, woodcarving was used to depict the idea that the company had a long, solid background of un-surpassed service and quality.
SB, a brochure cover (front and back) with an unfinished carving of company's logo to tell a story of new transitions for the bank even though the financial institution had been in business for many years.
Generally upon completion of a project of this type, the carving is presented to the client and is usually proudly hung in their lobby. Photography by: Robert Pearl Photography, Minneapolis, MN.
Farwell, Ozman &Kirk, Inc. or OK Hardware had reached its 125th year anniversary and wanted a brochure of an up-coming convention. AW Shadows designed, carved the cover (right), designed and produced the inside of this folder/brochure(below). The entire four page brochure interior was three-dimensional illustration, sometimes called assemblage. Assemblage is a kind of shadow box containing miniature three-dimensional items. In this case, each page dealt with approximately thirty years of the company's history woven together with the history of the country. The fourth page of the brochure isn't shown but continued the assemblage and involved current subject matter such as a photo of their new distribution plant and "future" related graphic elements. Upon completion of the project, the carving and the assemblage was encased in oak boxes with glass fronts and hung in the company's lobby.
